Jede Fussball Europameisterschaft seit 1992 hat einen offiziellen EM Song.
Namenhafte Künstler wie z.B Nelly Furtado, Simply Red und Enrique Iglesias haben das Turnier in der Vergangenheit vertont. Bereits bei der der letzen EM in Frankreich war es mit David Guetta ein internationaler Dance DJ & Produzent.
Nach Jahren der Geheimhaltung hat Sony Music Netherlands nun die Veröffentlichung des offiziellen UEFA EURO 2020 Songs bekannt gegeben, es ist ‚We Are The People‘ von Martin Garrix, featuring Bono und The Edg von U2.
Martin Garrix merkte früh im kreativen Prozess, dass Bonos Stimme perfekt zu ‚We Are the People‘ passen würde.
Seine Vision wurde Wirklichkeit, als sowohl Bono als auch sein U2-Bandkollege The Edge zustimmten, auf dem Song mitzuwirken.
Bono schrieb den Text und die Melodien und The Edge steuerte die wichtigsten Gitarrenriffs bei. Alles in allem führte es zu einer perfekten Kombination der charakteristischen Sounds aller drei Künstler.
Martin Garrix sagte zu dem Projekt: „Die Musik für eines der größten Sportereignisse der Welt zusammen mit Bono und The Edge zu kreieren, war eine unglaubliche Erfahrung – ich bin so stolz auf das, was wir zusammen gemacht haben und freue mich, es endlich mit der Welt zu teilen!“

Every European Football Championship since 1992 has had an official European Championship song.
Well-known artists such as Nelly Furtado, Simply Red and Enrique Iglesias have set the tournament to music in the past. Already at the last European Championship in France it was David Guetta, an international dance DJ & producer.
After years of secrecy, Sony Music Netherlands has now announced the release of the official UEFA EURO 2020 song, it is ‚We Are The People‘ by Martin Garrix, featuring Bono and The Edg from U2.
Martin Garrix realized early in the creative process that Bono’s voice would be a perfect fit for ‚We Are the People‘.
His vision became a reality when both Bono and his U2 bandmate The Edge agreed to collaborate on the song.
Bono wrote the lyrics and melodies and The Edge contributed the main guitar riffs. All in all, it resulted in a perfect combination of all three artists‘ signature sounds.
Martin Garrix said of the project, „Creating the music for one of the biggest sporting events in the world together with Bono and The Edge was an incredible experience – I’m so proud of what we did together and excited to finally share it with the world!“
