PEGGY GOU – I GO
Die in Korea geborene und in Berlin lebende DJ und Produzentin Peggy Gou hat mit „I Go“ ihre zweite Single des Sommers nach der OHHYUK-Kollaboration „Nabi“ vom letzten Monat veröffentlicht. Der neue Track ist ein flirrender und treibender elektronischer Dance-Track, inspiriert von Gous Liebe zur Clubmusik der 90er Jahre. Wie sie erklärt:
Als ich ein Teenager in Korea war, gab es bei uns keine Rave-Kultur wie in Großbritannien. „I Go“ ist eine Hommage an diese Ära, meine eigene Neuinterpretation der Sounds, die ich als Kind liebte. Der Text ist inspiriert von einer Notiz, die ich 2019 auf mein Handy schrieb, als ich mich im Spiegel einer Flughafentoilette anstarrte – ich sah so erschöpft aus, aber es gab keine Möglichkeit, dass ich nicht weitermachen würde! „I Go“ ist im Grunde, dass ich mich selbst motiviere, Mut finde und zu einem Gefühl der Unschuld zurückkehre. Ich hoffe, dass die Leute das gleiche Gefühl der Positivität empfinden, wenn sie es hören.

Korean-born, Berlin-based DJ and producer Peggy Gou has shared the song “I Go,” her second single of the summer following last month’s OHHYUK collab “Nabi.” The new track is a shimmering, propulsive electronic dance track inspired by Gou’s love of ’90s club music. As she explains:
When I was a teenager in Korea, we didn’t have rave culture like there was in the UK. “I Go” is a tribute to that era, my own reimagination of the sounds I grew up loving. The lyrics are inspired by a note I wrote on my phone in 2019, staring at myself in the mirror of an airport toilet — I looked so exhausted but there was no way I wasn’t going to keep going! “I Go” is basically me motivating myself, finding courage and returning to a feeling of innocence. I hope people feel the same sense of positivity when they hear it.
